Drive for Muscularity Scale (DMS)

The Drive for Muscularity Scale (DMS) assesses the desire to become more muscular among male participants. It consists of 15 items that are rated on a 6-point Likert scale.

In Generation R, 6 items of the DMS were selected to assess a muscularity-oriented body image (3 items) and behaviors in which individuals engage in order to become bigger and more muscular including preoccupation with weight lifting as well as increased consumption of calories or supplements (3 items).
