Subjective exercise ability

Subjective exercise ability was assessed in an online survey. Participants were asked to rate how good they were at sports and how they compared themselves to their peers on sport ability, stamina, and muscle strenght.

When subjects failed to take the survey online, the survey was done by telephone.

Short description of the wave	The Dutch Health and Behavior Questionnaire (DHBQ) was developed at the department of Biological Psychology of the VU University. It is a collection of standardized questions targeting multiple domains. The focus of the survey is on emotional and behavioral problems assessed by the Youth Self-Report (YSR), subjective wellbeing, lifestyle, exercise behavior, sedentary behavior, and family functioning. The YS_DHBQ14 project targeted 14-year old twins or triplets (mean age = 14.6 years, SD = 0.65 years) born between 1989 and 1999 and their 12-25 year old siblings (mean = 17.3 years, SD = 2.55 years) born between 1981 and 2001.

Short description of the wave	The Dutch Health and Behavior Questionnaire (DHBQ) was developed at the department of Biological Psychology of the VU University. It is a collection of standardized questions targeting multiple domains. From 2007, the survey includes the NEO Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) and removed items regarding religion, stuttering, type of transportation to school, and hair/eye color. The YS_DHBQ16 project targeted 16-year old twins or triplets (mean age = 16.9 years, SD = 0.55 years) born between 1987 and 1999 and their 12-25 year old siblings (mean age = 18.5 years, SD = 3.34 years) born between 1981 and 2000.

YC_DSC Wave

Wave alternate title	DISC-IV DSM diagnosis of ADHD and multi-informant CBCL-AP syndrome scores YC_DSC
Short description of the wave	The purpose of the YC_DSC project was to investigate the relation between Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) diagnosis of ADHD and Child Behavioral Checklist Attention Problems (CBCL-AP) scores. Twins were selected based on their maternal CBCL-AP scores at ages 7, 10 and 12 (mean age = 11.7 years, SD = 0.78 years). Twin pairs were selected if at least one of the twins scored high on AP (affected pairs), or if both twins scored low on AP (control pairs). In families that agreed to participate, the mother of the twins was interviewed by telephone with the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children (DISC-IV). Other surveys that were collected are the CBCL, SWAN and YSR. Mouth swabs were used to collect buccal cell samples, from which DNA was extracted.

Short description of the wave	The two-year follow-up of YE_FITNSS, which aimed to investigate determinants of adolescent exercise behavior in a sample of healthy twins and their siblings. The adolescents, now 18-20 years old (mean age = 19.8 years, SD = 0.72 years), and their siblings of 14-27 years old (mean age = 19.5 years, SD = 3.21 years) were asked to complete an online survey on their current exercise status.
