Delay Discounting - Candy

The Delay Discounting - Candy (real time) task is a delay gratification task that aims to measure impulsivity (behavioral control) by giving the child the option to either receive one piece of candy now or more candy later.

Children were first presented with two options, they could either eat one piece of candy immediately or wait until the lab- or home-visit was halfway done and receive two pieces candy. Halfway during the visit, the children who decided to wait for more candy at the start of the visit, were then presented with two options: they could either get two pieces of candy now or wait and receive three pieces of candy at the end of the visit. The researcher reported their choices.
