Heart rate

Heart rate is the number of times a heart beats per minute and normally ranges between 60 and 100 times for adults. Heart rate variability is the time fluctuation between heart beats.

In NTR project YC_BS3, heart rate was measured in a sitting position with an Omron automatic blood pressure monitoring device. The cuff was attached to the non-dominant arm. To measure heart rate, participants were asked to remain relaxed and still, and refrain from talking and laughing. In NTR project YE_COG18, heart rate was measured at four time points during the testing day using a Spacelabs 90207 device (Redmont, Washington, USA). If present during the testing day, parental heart rate was also measured. In NTR project YE_FITTNS, the maximum heart rate during excercise and heart rate recovery after excercise where assessed.
