Life events interview

A life events interview was conducted to gain information on potential stressful life events in the life of the child. Primary caregivers were asked about 26 potential stressful life events, and they were asked to indicate whether or not they ever happened to their child and how stressful this was. Notably, the life events interview also targeted direct victimization of the child (e.g., physical violence, sexual abuse).

In Generation R, the life events interview was in person with the primary caretaker at the 9-10 years wave. At the 17-18 years wave, the same items were assessed in a parent-reported questionnaire.
