Verbal Fluency Test

The Verbal Fluency Test assesses how many words that belong to the same predetermined category participants can produce in a given time (usually 60 seconds). This category can be semantic, specified objects such as animals or fruits, or phonological, words beginning with a specified letter such as p.

In TRAILS, the Verbal Fluency Task consists of two phological parts and one semantic task. In the phonological parts, participants have to produce as many Dutch words starting with the letters N and A, respectively. In the semantic part, participants have to name as many animals in two minutes time.
