Dental plaque and oral microbiome

Dental plaque samples were collected by rubbing a cotton swab over the buccal sides of the right lower permanent molars. DNA was isolated from the dental plaque swabs.

In the case of orthodontic treatment that covered the buccal side of the teeth, the swab was taken from the lingual side of the right lower permanent molars.
