Profile of Mood States (POMS)

The Profile of Mood States (POMS) is a validated assessment of transient mood states and consists of tension-anxiety, depression-dejection, anger-hostility, fatigue-inertia, vigor-activity and confusion-bewilderment factors.

In TRAILS, the POMS was used to assess subjective stress-reactivity before and after the Spatial Orienting Task, Bangor Gambling Task, Trier Social Stress Test, and Startle Reflex Task.
