Arc’s Self-Determination Scale (ASDS)

The Arc’s Self-Determination Scale assesses self-determination of adolescents with cognitive disabilities, such as mild mental retardation or learning disabilities. It consists of 72 items divided over four sections: Autonomy, Self-Regulation, Psychological Empowerment and Self- Realization.

In Generation R, three items from the Routine personal care and family-oriented function part within the Autonomy subscale were used, and one additional question assessed whether the child could move around the city.
