Language Tests for Children (Taaltest voor kinderen)

Taaltest voor Kinderen (TvK) is a Dutch battery that aims to test language proficiency in children. Its subtests encompass receptive and productive language proficiency in terms of phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.

In Generation R, the vocabulary comprehension subtest of the TvK was used. Each item of the comprehension subtest consisted of two pictures, and the child was asked to choose the picture that matched the given words. From the full battery of 40 items, only 27 (difficult) items were selected, to reduce the time required to complete the test and minimize the burden on the children.
