Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS)

The Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS) is a semi-structured interview for the diagnosis of mental disorders in children aged 6-18 years old, and involves both a screener section and accompanying supplements.

In Generation R, the K-SADS was adapted for use in a self-reported questionnaire. A subset of the modules from the computerised version of the K-SADS was used for interview. At age 14, lifetime experience of delusions was self-reported using 6 items relating specifically to delusional experiences drawn from the K-SADS. Items were rated on a 3-point Likert scale. At age 18, we administered a subset of the modules from the computerised version of the K-SADS, measuring mood disorders, psychosis, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders, alcohol use disorder, drug use disorder, sleep problems and suicidality.
