Nasal and nasalpharyngeal swab

Nasal and nasalpharyngeal samples were taken by the use of swabs that were rubbed through the nostrils and the upper part of the throat located behind the nasal cavity. Colonization with Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis was determined afterwards.

These measurements were only performed in a subgroup of participants.
