Adult Self Report (ASR)

The Adult Self Report (ASR) is part of the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) taxonomy and is a validated instrument to assess psychiatric symptoms in both clinical and research settings. The ASEBA self report version for adults 18 to 59 years old includes the syndrome scales Anxious/Depressed, Withdrawn, Somatic Complaints, Thought Problems, Attention Problems, Aggressive Behavior, Rule Breaking Behavior, and Intrusive, the DSM-oriented scales Depressive Problems, Anxiety Problems, Somatic Problems, Avoidant Personality Problems, and Antisocial Personality Problems, the substance use scales Tobacco, Alcohol, Drugs, and Mean Substance Use, the broadband scales Internalizing, Externalizing, and Total Problems, and, optionally, the adaptive functioning scales Friends, Spouse/Partner, Family, Job, Education, and Personal Strengths.

In RADAR, only six subscales were included: Anxious/Depressed (18 items), Withdrawn (9 items), Somatic Complaints (12 items), Aggressive Behavior (15 items), Rule-Breaking Behavior (14 items), and Intrusive Behavior (6 items). From Wave 7 onwards, in both RADAR Old and RADAR Young, the shortened version was used that especially addresses externalizing problems through the subscales Aggressive Behavior, Rule-breaking Behavior, and Intrusive. This shortened version was applied for child self-report, best-friend self-report, intimate partner self-report, sibling self-report, intimate partner of sibling self-report and parental report.
